In November of 2024, four senior women's teams from across the United States will tour Ontario, Northern Ontario, and Quebec playing games against the senior women of eight Canadian curling clubs. I am thrilled to advise you that as part of this tour, Huntsville has been selected to host the American curlers on November 7, 2024.

As a host, we have been asked to:

• Provide ice time for games held at our club 
• Organize four teams of senior women curlers (age 55 and above)
• Seek out group rates and identify and arrange hotels (10 rooms) - USA will pay for hotels
• Serve meals/snacks depending on draw times to all participants (Americans & Canadians)
• Organize entertainment or an activity (the Americans will also provide entertainment)
• Exchange club pins with the American curlers
• Provide small, travel friendly gift(s) to each American guest
• Organize a welcoming/opening ceremony and closing farewell
• Ensure the ice maker and/or volunteers have the ice ready for play
• Invite the Club President and local dignitaries to the event
• Provide a chairwoman for the event

Our Membership Director, Nancy Houle had the opportunity to be part of this tour to the US in November 2022, so I have asked her to chair the host committee.  She knows firsthand what an amazing experience it was and how each club outdid themselves, providing amazing hospitality and a local flavour.

This is a rare opportunity to showcase our club, beautiful Muskoka, and share our hospitality with our neighbours from across the border.  Nancy will be reaching out to some of our creative and talented members for assistance in organizing this prestigious event, as well as looking for 16 curlers to play against our American visitors.
