Youth Curling

High School Program

Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30pm – 4:45pm

Thursday November 7th – Thursday March 5th

Come right after school!  Walk from the High School to HCC in 5 minutes and then enjoy an hour of curling with your friends!

The High School Program is held for participants aged 13 – 18. This is a program designed to introduce high-school students to curling and learn the sport in a fun environment.

Tuesday will focus on instruction while Thursday will be about playing games and introducing the element of competition.  Come to one or to both.  Thursday will be a drop-in style where we will make up teams each week.

High School Students will have the opportunity to interact with their fellow teammates while getting some exercise.  They will learn teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills as they work together. The team must continuously decide how to influence the rock as it slides down the ice.  They must communicate their observations, and recommendations quickly and efficiently so instantaneous decisions can be made.

There is an opportunity to advance to a competitive level, competing in OCA events across Muskoka, Ontario and beyond.  They will learn the strategy of the game and how to adapt that in a real game situation.  Qualified coaches will work with the participants to help them be the best that they can be.

The Club will provide the participants with necessary curling equipment but are asked to bring clean running shoes, warm clothing and gloves for the ice. Helmets are recommended and will be available to each participant at the club.  The High School Program runs from November to March.
